Notice:  The Family Query Forum / Message Board has been changed.  The old provider was no longer providing the service.  A new one has been put in place (see below).  All the old data was lost but we encourage you to participate in the new forum.  We apologize for any inconvenience.  You may be able to help someone with their research.

Also be sure to check the family bios section and e-mail any additional information to us or to the e-mail address provided. Please feel free to submit your family bio so we can add it to this page - allowing others access to that information.
I hear there aren't that many copies of This Green & Pleasant Land left.

Millbrook & Cavan Historical Society Home Page

The Millbrook and Cavan Historical Society is a not for profit organization. We have specific objectives that include, but are not limited to:

  • To encourage and develop the study of all phases of the history, life and customs of  Millbrook,  Cavan  Township and the  surrounding district.
  • To arouse interest in the past by collecting and disseminating historical information through meetings, exhibits, lectures, papers, books and electronic media.
  • To mark in a suitable manner points of historic interest throughout the area.
  • To collect and preserve historical artifacts, documents, manuscripts and other material relative to the history and development of the area.
  • To establish and maintain a historical museum.

We have added two new sections to our web page in order to help all of you looking for information on your families. Try using these new sections / features before e-mailing us. As a historical society and not a genealogical society we don't have the resources to be of much help in terms of genealogical research at the current time. Your best bet for seeking family information is: 1. Buy the book - This Green and Pleasant Land. 2. Send us the information you have for posting. 3. Post your Query.

You already have the book, or know at least how to get it (scroll up this page). You should check out the Family Bio and Information Page

New pictures of the Grand Opening of the Arena and of the area. Thanks to Marlyne Fisher-Heasman.

After that, feel free to check out our new family query forum - just click the "Click to enter forum / Post your comments button, below:

You can submit a query by starting a "new message". Be sure to browse the other queries as well and reply where you can in order to help out.  Please note the forum was reset on January 23, 2002 due to the previous provider no longer offering the service.  Meaning all old posts were lost.  Feel free to start a new one.

Jane Longmore writes: "I purchased 2 very large framed photos of Mr. and Mrs. Jack Kellett at an auction on King St., Millbrook in late 1980's. I would like to contact the descendants of this couple to see if they would like to have these photos back in the family. I do not know the date, but they seem to be dressed in late 1800's Sunday best. We used to live in a large Victorian reproduction farm-house where these pictures hung on our living room wall, but have now moved to a smaller house near Cannington, where there is not enough wall space to hang them. These photos would be a great addition to anyone researching the Kellett family." Anyone researching the Kellett family may contact us and we'll pass along your e-mail. - Thanks.

Morewood
Morewood, Ontario, Canada is a small village, located south of the nation's capital. Some early citizens took a great interest in capturing their schoolyears in photographs and short memoirs, providing a rich visual history of the town of Morewood in its infancy. Surprisingly, Morewood had far more industries in those early years than it does today.
