The Charter for the Branch 238 Of The Royal Canadian Legion
was recived in 1932. The First President of the Legion was Sam Carew. The Ladies Auxiliary
recived their charter in 1941. The First meetings were held in Toomey Hall, and rooms over Bergoyne's
Store. In 1950 the old Jewell house was purchased for the location of meetings and activites. In 1961
The Burns' property on Forest St. was purchased, and this is where the present day Legion is
located.
