Fenelon Falls is located in the heart of the Kawartha Lakes Region. The surrounding landscape is characteristic of the Great Lakes/St. Lawrence Lowlands. Between Cameron and Sturgeon Lakes, the 7-metre falls enters a spectacular limestone gorge, which cuts through the heart of the village. Sand and gravel ridges, remnants of the last ice age, are visible in the surrounding fields.
The permanent population is approximately 1800 (November 2009), but summer seasonal residents increase this number substantially. There are two schools, Langton Public School and Fenelon Falls Secondary School. The medical centre houses family doctors, a dentist, medical lab facilities, x-ray, ultrasound and a pharmacy.
