22nd Annual Canada-US Walleye Tournament
May 28 to 30, 1999
Ontario's Original Live Release Tournament
Ontario's oldest, original live-release international walleye fishing
competition, the Canada-U.S. Walleye Tournament is celebrating its 22nd
year as a community-based event, with the funds raised by organizer Bobcaygeon
and Area Chamber of Commerce benefiting both Ontario fishing and the village
of Bobcaygeon.
Held alternately on beautiful Sturgeon Lake or the Kawartha District’s
Tri-Lake (Pigeon, Buckhorn and Chemong) -- site of the 1999 event -- the
tournament strives for the best in challenge, entertainment and educational
value for the maximum benefit to all concerned.
This year’s program will begin with a Friday, May 28, evening orientation
with a 6 a.m. Saturday launch from Beach Park. Following a lock-through
of Lock 32, the Trent-Severn Waterway’s oldest conveyance, the fishing
will be on one of Ontario’s best grounds. Accessed by lock-through , the
Saturday and Sunday weigh-ins will also be at Beach Park. Wrap-up and prize
distribution will be on Sunday afternoon, at Caygeon Lanes, in time for
a good trip home.
