Minutes of the Meeting of August 10 2000

Anne Panter called the meeting to order at 7:08PM. Mike Ricks pinch-hit for Theresa taking minutes. His first action was to mislay the attendance list. Our apologies - you won't be mentioned.

Jim Weir moved, seconded by Wally Schnieder acceptance of July minutes as reported om Kawarth-online.

Treasury report: $1,517.16. Al Wright moved, seconded by Bob Mitchell acceptance of Treasury report.

Larry Muter was thanked for picking up "The Computer Paper" periodical from Oshawa.

Bob Chapman was thanked for bringing the projector from Millbrook.

The newcomers were introduced and several comments were made as follows:

• Doesn't like Sympatico. Log in then is terminated.
• Problems with Bell Mobility. Phoenix Arizona didn't recognize Bell Mobility subscriber.
• What kind of computer to buy? already Windows 95 user. it was recommended to buy locally, presumably because of support considerations.

A discussion followed about the difference between Communication Navigator and Netscape.

We then listended to and observed an informative and well presented discussion about rewritable CD's presented by Paul MacCauley and Steve Kyle of Compu-Dynamix, Fenelon Falls. The presentation was quite lengthy - with the whole hearted encouragement of all the listeners - so it was decided to forego the 'round the room' discussion and self introduction.

Meeting adjourned about 9:20PM
