KRCA Backs down, TSW? - Not yet
Council allows Bobcaygeon Shores development
At their May 28th meeting, Council passed the by-law allowing the Bobcaygeon Shores housing development to proceed. KRCA has withdrawn its appeal to the Ontario Municipal Board, folding like a cheap tent in the face of certain defeat at the OMB.
That leaves only the Trent-Severn Waterway as the last hurdle before the project can go forward. To date they have not withdrawn their appeal to the OMB. They ought to. If they are going to insist on a 15 meter buffer zone of natural vegetation along the shoreline for this project, they will have to explain to the OMB why their own head office in Peterborough has a neatly mowed lawn running to the water's edge.
This federal agency had also better find some legal authority for claiming jurisdiction over the dry side of the shoreline. Betcha they can't do it. There's the small matter of The Ontario Land Titles system.
