Cast on 1 stitch
Row 1: Knit into back, front and back of this stitch (3 sts)
Row 2: Inc 1, p 1, inc 1
- continue in stocking stitch, increase 1 st. at each end of rows 3, 5, 8 and 12 (13 sts)
- work 24 rows straight (36 rows)
- dec 1 st at each end of rows 37, 41, 44, 46, 47 and 48 (last row is p3tog)
Stitch all pieces together into a circular ball, leaving a slit for stuffing.
Make 2 pentagons for ear-pieces:
Cast on 9 stitches
Working in stocking stitch inc. 1 stitch at each end of rows 3, 6, 9
Starting at row 12, decrease 1 st at each end of every row until 3 st remain
K3tog.
Cast off
Sew pentagons over ears.
Body:
Use circular needle
White: cast on 30 stitches

repeat to 60 stitches on needle
* k5 , k2tog *
repeat to 23 stitches on needle
Change to black
– 4 rows even
Change to white
* k5, inc 1 *
repeat to 82 stitches on needle
* k5 , k2tog *
repeat to 15 stitches on needle

repeat to 4 stitches on needle
cast off
- Fold in half and sew side seam (leaving a slit for stuffing)

White: Cast on 62
Row 1- 22: stocking stitch
Row 23: p2tog , p28, cast off 2, p28 , p2tog
Divide work.
Each side:
Black: 4 rows rib (*k1 , p1*)
Change to white and stocking stitch
1 row even (k)
next 6 rows: decrease 1 stitch each end
1 row even (purl)
next 7 rows: increase 1 stitch each end
cast off.
Fold along centre and stitch together, leaving a slit for stuffing.
Arms:

Use 2 needles
White: Cast on 10 stitches
Continuing in stocking stitch, increase one stitch at each end every alternate row (ie. on knit rows)
Change to black.
