Agenda
Minutes of last meeting:

Who we are...

The Kawartha Internet User Group began early in 1996 when KawarthaNet subscribers in the Bobcaygeon area got together to assist one another with the internet. In 1997 the KawarthaNet accounts, and its mission, were adopted by PeterboroNet, a change that allowed for expansion of the local user base. Since that time, the User Group has increased both its membership and community spirit.
We meet on the second Thursday of each month, at 7:00 pm, at the Lions' Club (old firehall), Main St., Bobcaygeon.

The original mission statement and goals of KawarthaNet:

    Mission Statement
"To provide the Kawartha community with access to public information networks, and to educate the public in the use and value of information technology. To provide local organizations with a cost effective method of distributing information to a wider audience. To bring the information highway to Peterborogh and the surrounding area."
      Goals:
    • To offer public access to local and world-wide computer networks and databases.
    • To offer a means for local information providers to disseminate their information as widely and economically as possible.
    • To build new, and support existing, communication networks among information seekers and providers.

    Computer Resources

People new to both computers and the internet face a steep "learning curve". Although we do our best to help new members over the initial bumps, formal training is still a better route. At the February 1998 meeting, we decided to start a list of training facilities in the area. Other computer-related services have since been added.
If you offer, or can recommend, computer-related services in the area, please let us know at the email address below
