Ginger Snaps

Gingersnaps

This makes 5 dozen. You can cut it in half and do it in a food processor. From the American Woman's Cookbook.
  • 4 c flour
  • 2 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cloves
  • 2 tsp ginger
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 1/2 c shortening (or margarine)
  • 2 c sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 c molasses

    1. Cream shortening & sugar
    2. beat in eggs
    3. Add molasses then sifted dry ingredients
    4. Roll into 1-inch balls
    5. Roll in sugar (Here is where you get to toss your cookies) Put about 1/4 c sugar in a margarine tub, and toss 2 or 3 at a time, 'til they are covered in sugar.
    6. Place on greased baking sheet 2 inches apart, flatten slightly
    7. Bake @ 375 15 to 18 minutes.
