- quick way to clean up cookies & history
- good way to identify "garbage files, but be careful.
This permanently deletes files (ie. doesn't put them in the Recycle Bin). I suggest using this to find files, but regular MS Explorer to delete them, so you can recover if necessary from the recycle bin.

(2) XCleaner
- partial version free
- greyed-out features and "picture" finder not in free version
- "shedder" tab: drag files (eg. from Explorer) into shredder to be permanently deleted.
(full version: )
- "Expert" tab gives a list of programs that start automatically from the registry. Interesting, but before removing them here, try to use the "options" in the specific program. If they don't give you a way to omit them, this will.

- Minimalist: Levels of cleanup:
(a) Basic: Netscape & IE cache, history and temp files (leaves cookies)
(b) Standard: = Basic plus cookies and newsgroup subscriptions (c) Thorough: = Standard plus favourites & bookmarks
(you probably don't want to do this unless you're clearing off your computer for someone else.
(d)Custom: assumes "basic" but you can choose other options. eg. run "basic" then "custom" to delete cookies but leave newsgroups

-doesn't delete internet trails (cookies, history, cache)
- searches for duplicate files, etc. but for an entire drive. You can specify a file type (eg. fin dduplicate mp3's), but not a specific directory. I tried checking for all duplicate files, and stopped it after a few hours!
- creates "undo" files when cleaning registry
